Its latest is designed specifically for the 13” MacBook Air—convenient, considering last week’s update left the body design intact.

STM Bags Drifter Medium Laptop Backpackjansport hoffman backpack uk We’ve never been shy about proclaiming our admiration for STM’s bags. For years, the company has been making some of the best carriers on the market, and our editors have used certain STM bags on a daily basis. Now it’s back with a brand new collection of bags called Annex, which we first previewed at the 2014 CES. There are four bags in the lineup, including Drifter Medium Laptop Backpack ($140). As far as laptop bags go, it has just about everything one could ask for. Designed for an “urban, fashion-oriented customer,” it looks quite nice and is plenty practical, too. Tech21 Impact Snap Case for MacBook When it comes to MacBook cases, there’s not too much variety. Most cases have two hard plastic pieces — one that snaps onto the top, the other onto the bottom. They may come in different colors, but it can be hard to tell one company’s case apart from another.
Tech21’s Impact Snap Case for MacBook ($100) is different. Yes, it’s more expensive than most of the competition, but that’s because it’s made to be more protective. Incase EO Travel Roller Bag Anyone who takes quick trips knows that having to carry multiple bags—luggage plus something to lug around a computer and iPad—can be a pain. That’s why we can definitely see the appeal of Incase’s EO Travel Roller Bag ($250). The same size as a traditional carry-on bag, it includes dedicated space for your Mac and more. Twelve South Rutledge BookBook for MacBook Twelve South has had a busy few weeks when it comes to updated iDevice accessories; check out its new SurfacePad for iPad mini and Compass 2. Now it’s decided to give the Mac some love with Rutledge BookBook for MacBook ($100). The South Carolina-based company has had versions of its leather, book-inspired MacBook case since 2010, and those initial versions can still be had for $80. Rutledge is an aesthetic update, and boy, is it pretty.
While portables are getting smaller and smaller, bigger bags seem to be the trend lately. Take Ogio’s new Commuter ($100). The water resistant backpack is almost 20” tall, with 1,350 cubic inches of space inside. Hex Onyx Premium Capsule Collection Hex has always been known for nice bags, but it’s pivoted to focus on premium options. The latest family is Onyx Premium Capsule Collection, made up of three Mac bags at $180 each. Available as a duffle, tote, or backpack, each has room for a 13” or 15” MacBook, plus an iPad and iPhone. Despite the different styles, each bag uses the same materials and clearly belongs alongside the others. Tenba Transport Air Case with Wheels We’re not convinced that traveling with or shipping an iMac is something most people will ever consider, but then again, for certain professional reasons, it makes a lot of sense. That explains why Tenba is one of a handful of companies making travel cases for the all-in-one machines, including its Transport Air Case with Wheels ($655).
This edition is for the newest 27” iMacs, but you’ll actually find more than 30 sizes on the company’s web site. WILL Leather Goods Kent Messenger Bag A fine computer deserves a fine carrying bag, right? Well, If you really want to carry your MacBook Air or 13” MacBook Pro in style, WILL Leather Goods’ Kent Messenger Bag ($395) is an option. It’s made from some of the most handsome leather we’ve seen on a bag. The construction process helps to ensure that it’ll stand the test of time, and we have to believe the vegetable-tanned finish will age well over the years. Booq is back at it, with yet another bag for taking your Mac on the road. This time, it’s a messenger bag called Boa nerve ($150). Not only has the company made the bag look nice—something we’ve come to expect—but it has also built in some really cool features that make it a particularly great choice for bikers. Incase DSLR Pro Pack + DSLR Pro Sling Pack Incase wowed us with its DSLR Sling Pack, a great camera bag that also has room for an 11” MacBook Air or iPad in the back.
But if you’re a photographer with a bigger Mac, the company has options for you as well. DSLR Pro Pack ($150) and DSLR Pro Sling Pack ($170) both offer dedicated space for your DSLR, plus room for up to 15” MacBook Pros, not to mention accessory pockets galore. The former is a full backpack, while the latter is a sling-style bag. Waltzing Matilda Avery Sleeve There are a few qualities that push the price of tech accessories up, including the use of real leather, and being assembled in America. Waltzing Matilda’s Avery Sleeve ($160) might make more sense, then: the expensive envelope is all real cowhide, 100% American sourced, and manufactured in the USA. And should be the case for the price, it looks really nice. Booq is known for its high quality canvas bags, and Boa shift ($150) is no exception. This time, it’s a deceivingly spacious backpack. Despite the fact that it doesn’t look huge, there’s an incredible amount of storage space inside, along with all the usual Booq benefits, including a system for tracking lost bags.
