I found the Propper International Bias Sling Bag to be well made, but also well thought out with great attention to detail.
Similar in shape and size to other sling bags, it is easy to see that Propper added many unique features to set this bag apart from the competition. backpack 5k salem vaFor example, the main buckle on the sling allows the user to unclip the bag instead of pulling it over one's head. omniquest backpackThe external water bottle pocket is not only deep but roomy as well. bagbase heritage laptop backpack bagIt can easily fit a large Nalgene type bottle, or a slimmer aluminum bottle and a standard police radio at the same time. The main compartments are organized in a way that you can keep gear sorted and still have enough room to stuff clothing or equipment inside. The zipper tabs are oversized and have a unique contoured shape that assists with opening and closing the compartments both gloved and ungloved hands.
Externally the bag has both molle and velcro to attach additional gear and patches. Overall, Propper has produced a quality sling bag that will meet the needs of many users. I was pleasantly surprised with the amount of room this small bag has. There are many pockets to store many different products. I have used this bag on a daily basis for work and will continue to do so. I only had one training session while I was testing this bag and used it on my skills/physical fitness/agility course. The bag wore well against the body once properly cinched in place. It did not slam against my back as I ran or scaled our 12 foot wall. I would recommend this product to anyone looking for a smaller bag in lieu of a 3 day bag or regular sized backpack. The only thing I did not like about the bag is some of the stitching has become frayed(before the course). Other than that, this bag packs a big punch with such a small size in regards to room, storage, and comfort When I received the Propper Bias Sling Backpack, I decided to use it as an everyday bag to carry my essential duty items.
Due to my current assignment, I routinely jump from vehicle to vehicle during a normal day and this bag is big enough that I can carry any necessary items I need in it but small enough that it is easy to grab and take with me wherever I go. The pack is advertised as being able to carry a 17 inch laptop and it looks large enough to do that. I routinely carry 2 leather folios, numerous pairs of gloves, a flashlight, ammo, large binoculars, and any electronics I need in the pack without a problem. Wearing a sling backpack did take me a little while to get used to and more often than not I find myself just wearing it over one shoulder like I would a traditional backpack. Wearing the backpack in this manner does defeat the purpose of many of the features of the pack though as the pack was designed entirely around being slung and, as a result, being able to be easily swung around to the front of the body. As such, most of the pockets and pouches face the side, which would then face up then the pack is swung to the front.
As for the interior pouches, they are large which makes it hard to organize small items so I think their design and placement could be better. There is also a dual-purpose compartment in the back. It is designed to hold a water bladder (not included) or, because it is lined with loop velcro, velcro holsters and pouches can be attached there instead. If a weapon is stored here, it is easily accessible when then pack is rotated to the front of the body from a slung position. There is also a patch of loop velcro in the main compartment where accessories can be attached and this area is also easily accessible when the pack is swung to the front. The one thing I did notice that may inhibit access to the pockets are the pull straps attached to the zippers. While the straps are easy to grab, they are made out of a soft, rubbery plastic and while they are fine for routine use of the zippers, if something got caught in the zipper or if the pack was stuffed full and force had to be applied to the strap to zip the pack shut, I think the strap could break if care was not taken to avoid it.
The pack is made out of nylon similar to any other pack on the market. There is also MOLLE webbing on the exterior of the pack to allow for any customization the end user may want do. Also, one feature I really like is that sling strap has a buckle to allow for quick removal as opposed to pulling it over your head. The pack also has a pocket for a water bottle on the side. In my opinion, I think this is a good pack and will continue to use it on a daily basis. The pack is specialized though, so it will not fit everyone’s needs. As such, if someone is looking for a new pack, do your research. If you like this type of pack, it is as advertised and you will not be disappointed.Gearslinger PackSitka GearslingerMaxpedition SitkaMaxpedition BagsShoulder PacksShoulder BackpackKits PacksEdc PacksWeapon ShoulderingForwardThe Maxpedition SITKA Gearslinger pack is a single shoulder backpack designed to maximize utility when rotated towards the front of the body and is worn over the left shoulder for better weapon shouldering.
