Students at each level are provided with digital cameras to take snapshots of the "doing well" and "need to improve" areas of Food Service. Today, our Sodexo General Manager hosted a lunch for student participants at Geneva Middle School North in which they were able to discuss their feedback directly with Sodexo staff.

Our students had some great feedback and ideas! We are so glad that our food service is helping us live our vision by providing our students with real-world opportunities for communication and collaboration.

GHS Music students did a fantastic job representing Geneva at the Illinois Music Educators Association All-State Conference and Festival last week! Not only did our students audition successfully for the District-level ILMEA festival last November, but their scores were so exemplary that they were selected for the All-state festival this weekend. Furthermore, as a result of subsequent auditions in Peoria, ALL of our Geneva students were placed in the HONORS level ensembles, ...which are the highest-level groups at the festival. These student musicians are: Quinn Hensley - Tenor II in the HONORS CHORUS Grayson Frazier - Tenor Sax I in the HONORS JAZZ BAND I Alex Tschetter - Tuba in the HONORS ORCHESTRA Alex Cordogan - Violin in the HONORS ORCHESTRA Furthermore, Arielle Policastro was selected to represent Geneva in the Future Music Educators Seminar, an in-depth clinic for students who are planning to pursue a career in music education. We were also very proud to have Amy Acton, Claudia Wilkie, and Lucy Smith there to represent the TRI-M NATIONAL MUSIC HONOR SOCIETY this weekend.

These young ladies - who serve as the student board for the Geneva chapter of Tri-M - ran a booth at the ILMEA exposition center, promoting the development of Tri-M in schools across the state. We cannot express how proud we are to have these talented musicians and exemplary young people represent our department, school, district, and community. -Patrick Frederick Geneva CUSD 304The dynasty continues! WordMasters Challenge™ is an exercise in critical thinking that first encourages students to become familiar with a set of interesting new words (considerably harder than grade level), and then challenges them to use those words to complete analogies expressing various kinds of logical relationships. Working to solve the analogies helps students learn to think both analytically and metaphorically. Although most vocabulary enrichment and analogy-solving programs are designed for use by high school students, WordMasters Challenge™ materials have been specifically created for younger students in grades three through eight. They are particularly well suited for children who are motivated by the challenge of learning new words and enjoy the logical puzzles posed by analogies. The WordMasters Challenge™ program is administered by a company based in Indianapolis, Indiana, which is dedicated to inspiring high achievement in American schools.
