Trinity, 14, considers herself very lucky to call Canada’s wild West Coast home, where she lives with her family on a float home (a 15-minute boat ride into town) and is homeschooled with her siblings. “Living on a float home can be difficult when it is stormy, and it requires a lot of courage. Not being able to just walk to a store or a friend’s house, and always relying on a boat for transportation can be hard but also amazing,” she explains. She appreciates the unique opportunities and life experiences her parents have created; allowing her and her siblings to meet different people and see new things all over the world. Trinity recently travelled to Ecuador with an outdoor program where she explored the beautiful country and stayed with local families. When the program concluded, her dad and younger siblings met up with her to surf, explore, hike and visit historical sites. In June, Trinity organized a beach clean-up on International Surf Day, to give the ocean some love and also get local kids stoked on how they can help protect it.

To get ready for a day on the water, Trinity will stretch, eat a good breakfast, check the surf report and prepare herself mentally to put on her wetsuit (because it’s often wet and cold from the day before). “Surfing has taught me how truly powerful and amazing the ocean is. It has also taught me patience while waiting for the perfect wave. Surfing is definitely hard but when you finally catch a wave and stand up, it’s the best feeling. You can’t get discouraged because you will get it eventually, it just takes time.” “I always look forward to warm summer weather. I don’t really like being cold. Summer allows me to stay in the water for longer. I also love adventures with my friends, sitting on the beach with my family, reading and practicing yoga. I also like to sit and doodle for hours.” Trinity’s top summer reads include: Emma by Jane Austen and Looking for Alaska by John Green. > our quality promise > fabrics and technologies > a to z product terms
