Excellent weather instrument for all users of wireless-capable Garmin units. I've been using this sensor since its appearance in 2012 with my Garmin GPSMap 62s. I don't like the mounting options that Garmin recommends—clothing and shoes. Walking around town on roads I feel it is secure, but if you're going running, hiking, hunting, it is not secure in my opinion. I bought mine for winter hiking in the mountains. When I got home I discovered that the installed battery was depleted, and I installed the second battery that was in the box. I immediately noticed I had to hold pressure on the battery door to get the display… I bought my first one in 2010 for use in my kayaking business in SW Florida. The Kestrel worked fine for measuring temperature, but stopped working when left in a kayak cockpit with an inch of water for about 2 minutes. I returned it to the company as it was still under warranty and got excellent service as they shipped me another one right away. This one stopped working as well when in contact with water for no more than a minute. I want to believe the company has a great product but have found… It works fine for a few hours, but the wind speed stops working suddenly. I  live in Chile, and don't now how to change it, or get to fix it, other functions are ok. Overpriced piece of garbage. I really wanted and asked for an altimeter and this is what the dealer brought in.

I was told it was this or a wrist-watch style. After a matter of a couple of weeks I took it back and asked for a refund. The altimiter function was completely unreliable and I live only 400 meters from the ocean. I even volunteered to take a re-stocking discount but was refused flat! Naturally I would never shop nor recommend that store to anyone. Not an absolute necessity... but gives reliable information and has always functioned fine for me. The weather forecaster is a cool feature, probably never would have bought it for myself but it was a cool gift... worth the money if you have it but definitely not a high priority as far as gear goes. My first Schmidt Bender - and the village bicycle of riflescopes in my house. This scope has been many rifles, as I outgrow each rifle, this PMII is still right there to be the top-shelf optic I put on the next setup. This is hands down the nicest scope I've ever owned (Zeiss diavari victory, various leupold mark 4's, etc...). Very precise turrent clicks, built like tank and with optical clarity that, as someone else mentioned to me, "almost helps you see into the future its so clear."
