Jemsite has been doing a series called 10 Things I Wish I’d Known About Guitars (Before I Bought One) and I know a good idea when I steal one. The concept: if you could hop into your DeLorean, whack it up to 88 mph and visit yourself when you were buying your first instrument, what advice would you give? In about 50 years’ time I imagine myself sitting in a comfy chair and my grandkids scurrying up to me in their space-pyjamas and asking, “Granddad, what was life like before the internet?” And I’ll say, “Put down your hoverboards, jump up on my knee and I’ll tell you.” Then I’ll twirl my mustachios wistfully and reply, “It was FUCKIN’ AWFUL!” Back when I got my first ukulele – during my teenage guitar obsession – there were no internets, YouTubes or blogs to teach a boy anything. I didn’t know anyone who played ukulele. I’d heard George Formby and one other song with a ukulele once. I didn’t have a clue. As a result, it took me many years to see the potential of the uke.
So here’s what I’d tell the fat, ugly, stupid, teenage me as he wandered into Bakewell Music Shop to buy a ukulele. 1. The strings don’t go fattest to thinnest. Just to prove how ignorant I was, I actually tried restringing it the ‘right’ way. It didn’t occur to me that the people who made it might have had a better idea of how to string it than I did. I did have a book. But it was a very slim, old one. I either didn’t read it or it failed to mention this fairly important detail. 2. Good ukuleles exist. Your local music shop doesn’t have one. Bakewell is famous for it’s tarts (and they are exceeding good). It’s not famous as a centre of outstanding luthiery. The uke I bought was complete junk. I didn’t even know there were better ukes. I think this is the main reason I rarely played the uke for many years. Message to me: buy a Martin ukulele or six. They might seem expensive now but you ain’t seen nothing yet. 3. Good ukulele strings exist.

Tighten the screws. It might stay in tune. I think I did eventually work this one out myself.
But only many months after giving up on ever getting it to stay in tune. 5. Ukuleles are not little guitars. I started figuring this one out pretty quickly. After trying to strum it with a plectrum for 3 minutes I realised that clearly wasn’t the way to go. It took me much longer to figure out that the high-G string could be a help rather than a hindrance (partly because it took me a while to figure out it was a high-G string). 6. Eventually, you won’t want to play the guitar any more. Actually, I might gloss over this fact lest it puts me off picking it up in the first place. 7. Fewer strings means harder, not easier. Not entirely true, I know. But it is more of challenge to play difficult pieces on the uke. 8. Don’t steal plutonium from the Libyans. 9. In about 15 years time ukuleles are going to be the coolest thing in the world and you’re going to be writing about them every day. You should practice more. There’s no getting round the fact I’m a mediocre player.
It might be the fact that I’m not naturally musically talented. But more practice certainly couldn’t harm. 10. You like her. Just ask her out you useless, spotty idiot. And sell your sister to organ harvesters and put the money into Google and Microsoft. No, it’s nothing to do with ukuleles. But if I’m time traveling here, I’m not going to spend all ten on ukuleles. What do you wish you’d known about ukuleles before you bought one? I downloaded the game kingdoms of amalur reckoning, and a couple dlc for it however my dlc does not appear in the game. What do I do? Message 1 of 60 Please make sure the dlc is properly installed. You can check it by going in your Origin client to MY GAMES > select KoA > ADD-ONS & BONUSES. There you will find the Status of your add-ons and dlc. Message 2 of 60M I have purchased the Might Armor and have waited three days for it to show up in that chest, but nothing.I have restarted, turned off the XBox360 overnight, e
tc.I have un-installed, deleted, re downloaded and reinstalled the pack but still nothing shows ? Message 3 of 6AM try fast traveling to Allestar Tower then walk to gorhan (just like you did at the very beginning of the game) that triggers the dlc for most people Message 4 of PM NO, I have the same problem, and it did not work. Message 5 of8 AM I got the same exact problem for PS3. First, there is no content availble in the in game DLC Content options. Yes, I'm signed In with a perfect Wi-fi connection. When I log to the Playstation Store from that window, there are still no content available. I bought the expansions directly from the Playsation Store by logging to it within the PS3 system, not from the ingame option. I was able to download and install the DLC from the PS3 option (not ingame option). Still, the game does not recognize the DLC and still no content available on the ingame DLC option window. So my guess it could be 2 things : 1- contents is now locked because maker of the game, 38 Studios, does no longer exist because of bankruptcy.2- some particular system configuration on your system is blocking the DLC activation (bug) A patch from 38 Studios could fix the problem, but this won't happen cause like I said, they no longer e
xist. Could EA programmers open the source code and fix it ? I have no idea... EA recommends the following on their troubleshooting forum: "We are aware that sometimes your purchased DLC for Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning may not activate (or function) properly. We're very sorry for any inconvenience this has caused. If you purchased your DLC for PC, please contact an Advisor and they would be happy to assist /contact-us and log in using the Origin account associated with your game and DLC purchases. If you purchased your DLC on PS3 or Xbox, you will need to contact Sony or Microsoft for a refund." This is quite an unsatisfying anwser ! At least, tell us why it is not working ! Anyways, I contacted Playstation for a fix or refund. I'll post the infos here when I'll get them. Message 6 o16 PM Ok , got it wo PS3.  It is a DLC Region Locked problem. I live in Canada and I bought the game from UK. Seems that all the last copies from the game are coming from there. So you have to download the DLC from your Disc R
egion. To do that, you have to create a new account in your system and sign in to the Playstation Store or XBOX Live Under the disc Region. UK in my case. Then download the DLC but don't install them. After that, change back to your usual profile and install theBingo. Check these 2 links for the correct procedures to follow (PS3). Only drawback, you have to rebuy the packs again since it is a different region...Finally my redeem code for Online Pass worked on the UK r:40 PM The game shows up on my purchasesIm still cant load up (on a PC). Ive tried reloading, Ive tried fast travelling from the start to gorhart and nothing works.  The advice_______________________________________________________________________________If you purchased your DLC for PC, please contact an Advisor and they would be happy to assi/contact-us and log in using the Origin account associated with your game and DLC purchases.___________________________________________________________________________________________________Doesnt work because the link sends me to an xbox
2:52 PM yes any experienced DirectX programmer could make a patch to fix all the problems if they had the source code, however getting a hold of the source code will be difficult with all of 38 studios computers sitting in boxes that are only labeled with a small state asset # 123456 sticker in a warehouse somewhere after being seized during the bankruptcy proceedings.it's very likely the few state employees that do know where they are don't have any clue about I.T. stuff or gaming or marketing.if they did they would fix the problems, lower the price and run a marketing blitz to introduce more people to this great game.they won't find a buyer for Amalur's intellectual property if they sit on their hands and let the game die by fading into obscurity.richforce wrote: A patch from 38 Studios could fix the problem, but this won't happen cause like I said, they no longer exist.
