I got turned on to TYR Tactical by a recent post on soldiersystems.net. Their Machine Gunners Assault Pack is an impressive piece of innovation. I’m not sure how practical this thing would be linked up to a full-size M240, but it could pair nicely with lighter assault-style MGs such as the M249, MK46 and MK48. The MICO is outfitted with custom lightweight feed [chute], cover and weapons feed attachment. Holds 500 rounds and an additional 75 rounds in the feed [chute]. The idea of having 575 rounds at-the-ready is attractive but also painful since 100-round belts of 7.62mm weigh about seven pounds each. It would be interesting to see how well this rig distributes the load and how it integrates with Army and Marine Corps body armor. Supposedly, the weapon’s sling attaches to the MICO frame to enable “ease and mobility.” But then there’s the price tag — $3995.95?!! They’ve gotta be kidding. Maybe $2150, but not 4K. This is a really interesting design and I’m sure it’s nice quality, but I can’t believe anyone would lay down that kind of dough for a pack.

I have troy folding battle sites on my S&W M&P15 in 5.56/.223. I would like to keep the sites on and still be able to use them in conjunction with this ACOG.Is there another mount I would need in order to accomplish this? (read all my Q&A) i have not seen a mount but i bet a good gunsmith will be able to make one or make an adptor for one. Unless you were to mount a rail spacer (which would make using the ACOG very uncomfortable because of the added height), you cant use them together, usually you would just fold down the battle sights to be used if the ACOG were to fail or if you remove it.
