From August 1-9, 19 Detroit area McDonalds owners will have a sweepstakes to give away a total of 1,900 McDonalds branded backpacks filled with school supplies. It is part of the “Backpackin’ to School” sweepstakes. The backpacks will come with many of the tried and true school supplies including a spiral notebook, crayons, a ruler, #2 pencils as well as other supplies. “My fellow McDonald’s restaurant owners and I have doubled down on our efforts to support local youth and education this year by giving away twice as many backpacks at each participating location,” says Jon Campbell, McDonald’s restaurant owner. “We are excited to reach more children and families through the expansion of this meaningful program.” The following Detroit-area restaurant locations will participate in the McDonald’s “Get BackPackin’ to School” giveaway: Raffle times at City of Detroit locations

BRAWLEY- Getting supplies for school in August can be tough for some families. Which is why McDonalds of the Imperial Valley are planning to help out on Backpack Saturday July 18 by giving away 100 free backpacks courtesy of local owners Joe Johnson and Jose Leon. The first 100 children and families to come to McDonalds will receive a free backpack, no purchase necessary. Families who show up late will not leave empty handed, but will receive a consolation prize according to Daniel Sandoval, general manager of the Brawley location. A health and safety fair will also be held at the McDonalds Location from 7:30 to 9:00 a.m. by the Brawley fire department, Las Clinicas, Southwestern Dental Group, and the county health department.

“We want to help any way we can and take some of the financial load off parents’ shoulders,” said Sandoval.
