Motorcycles do not have a backseat or trunk. Then where are you supposed to throw your stuff? One of the many wisest investments you can make as a motorcycle rider is to get a motorcycle backpack or gear bag. No, we're not talking the school yard version. You'll need a strong, but lightweight, weather proof bag that affords convenience and easy use. If you're like any of us at MotoSport it's a good bet you'll invest in several styles and types of bags. Not all bags are the same and not all bags serve the same purpose. Our inventory includes motorcycle backpacks, gear bags, hydration packs and travel bags. Motorcycle backpacks offer convenience and practicality for the work commuter or running small errands. Our line of motorcycle backpacks is extensive and we carry all the best known brands in the business. Depending on need, backpacks can be multifunctional with a number of pockets and accessories. Motorcycle backpacks vary in price and look, so check out our selection to see what best suits your style, budget and need.

Motorcycle gear bags and travel bags step it up a notch and can often double as a suitcase when necessary. These bags offer more room to carry personal items and extra gear like a second helmet or extra pants and jackets just in case you run into stormy weather. Gear bags are ideal for those longer rides and to safely store your gear between rides. Motorcycle hydration packs keep you on the road rather than stopping every hour to quench your thirst.

How do you remove mildew from backpacks, waders, and other outdoor gear. I recently brought out my gear for a weekend trip and discovered a lot of mildew on my gear. I looked at the Nikwax website, but do not see any products for mildew. Photo: JustinRossWard via Shutterstock Eh, that's too bad. Mildew is pretty tenacious stuff. And some damage may be irreversible—mildew corrodes fabric and can weaken it considerably. The first thing to do is make sure the mildew is dead. Brush the gear with a stiff brush to get off all the mildew that you can. Then spread the gear out in the sun someplace, bringing it back in at night if need be to keep dew off. The key is to get it as dry as possible. Plus, sunlight kills mildew. Next, make up a cleaning formula of about a cup of lemon juice with two or three tablespoons of salt.

Rub that into the mildewed areas. A solution made from two tablespoons of bleach and a quart of warm water can also do the trick, although of course that also can change the fabric color. Anyway, scrub the mildew stains with your weapon of choice. Then rinse with water. Then, in the case of clothing, launder as you normally would. You can spray on a clothing stain remover before doing so, if you wish. In the case of the gear, fill a tub with warm, soapy water, and scrub the stuff thoroughly. Then rinse it and dry it, dry it, dry it. Prevention is the best cure for mildew. Make sure stuff is stored where it can get air, and where things are as dry as possible. I know that's a challenge in the humid south. Perhaps you go to Home Depot and buy one of those gadgets that hold drying crystals, then place that in the closet where the outdoor stuff is stored.
