In a sense, this new game could be EA's unique answer to Bungie's MMO-like shooter Destiny that uses action-adventure elements instead of FPS. "We're trying to build a fictional world that feels real and is alive and is constantly changing."

BioWare's new IP is entirely fresh, and isn't based on Dragon Age or Mass Effect. Interestingly enough, however, the new IP has been developed by BioWare's original Mass Effect Edmonton studio for the past five years (since 2012) and will release by March 2018. Based on the teasers video from E3 2014 (see above) we can surmise it's sci-fi based, which aligns with the Edmonton studio's skillset. EA confirms the IP is a "clean sheet design with new concepts, new gameplay mechanics, and new stories set in a unique universe." EA has said that the new IP won't be an RPG, and will instead be "genre-melding" across the action and adventure genres while retaining the deep character progression and story that BioWare is known for. EA CFO Blake Jorgensen goes on to heavily hint the IP will have strong online-based multiplayer elements, not unlike an MMO: "This game has the potential to fundamentally disrupt the way people think about an action title, bringing friends together to play in exciting new ways.

We're very excited about the future of this new franchise and its ability to attract a larger global audience."Continue reading 'New BioWare IP might be EA's unique answer to Destiny' (full post)POST A COMMENTSamsung teases new tablet for MWC 2017By: Anthony Garreffa | Posted: 8 hours, 54 mins agoSamsung won't be releasing or unveiling its next-gen Galaxy S8 smartphone at Mobile World Congress later this month, but the company will be showing something off - as it has just invited the press to its MWC press event with the tease of what looks like a new tablet. POST A COMMENTAMD reiterates: Vega graphics cards coming in Q2 2017By: Anthony Garreffa | More News: Video Cards | Posted: 10 hours, 12 mins agoI've just written about SK Hynix's new dates for HBM2 deployment, which will affect AMD's Vega GPU roll out a little, but we're still getting Vega graphics cards in Q2 2017. AMD confirmed the news during their latest financial report, where they said: "AMD introduced preliminary details of its forthcoming Vega GPU architecture designed to address the most data- and visually-intensive next-generation workloads. Key architecture advancements include a differentiated memory subsystem, next-generation geometry pipeline, new compute engine, and a new pixel engine. GPU products based on the Vega architecture are expected to ship in the second quarter of 2017". As for the new Vega graphics cards with HBM2, we should expect 8GB of HBM2 with just under 410GB/sec bandwidth - and a release later in the year with the faster 512GB/sec HBM2.POST A COMMENTAMD Vega to launch with slower HBM2, faster HBM2 laterBy: Anthony Garreffa |

Posted: 11 hours, 24 mins agoAMD is expected to launch its Vega graphics cards in the next couple of months, with an unveiling in May and a launch in June to be expected - but now SK Hynix have updated their memory product catalog, giving us a better look at the bandwidth numbers around HBM2. SK Hynix updated their graphics databook, showing off HBM2 for Q4 2016 with a 4-stack 4GB HBM2 product with two different speeds: 2Gbps and 1.6Gbps, with 256GB/sec bandwidth and 204GB/sec bandwidth, respectively. This has now changed, with a shift in availability. The company is now listing the slower 1.6Gbps (204.8GB/sec) for Q1 2017, while the faster 2Gbps (256GB/sec) HBM2 now stuck with a 'TBD' for availability. This could lead AMD to launch a slower HBM2-based card in Q2, and a faster Vega graphics card later in the year.Continue reading 'AMD Vega to launch with slower HBM2, faster HBM2 later' (full post)POST A COMMENTNokia N1 tablet teased, Snapdragon 835, 18.4-inch screenBy: Anthony Garreffa |
