They have everything from simple carry-ons to briefcases. They even have everyday items that make travel easier. For instance, they have a lower-priced item that is excellent for gift-giving called the "travel basket." This is not only great for men on the road, but for women as well. My husband now has a place to put all of his "crap" when we walk in the room (keys, spare change, etc.). It has really cut back on me nagging him to… ) and was thoroughly impressed by this bag when I recieved it.

The Gator is a shoulder slung bag that looks like it's on steroids! Construction is 1000dn Cordura (yes Cordura - not an imitation) and stainless steel fittings. Over the years, I have moved away from bulky "backpack" style daypacks and more towards carrying "messenger bag/satchel" type bags that are just large enough to carry a full day's worth of accessories. hylete backpack reviewThe Red Oxx Traveler’s Gift Guide has lots of great gift ideas for the frequent traveler in your life. Their Safari Beanos Bag PR 5.5 is my go to piece of luggage when I head out on the open road in the 4Runner.

Find my review of it here. Post Tagged with Red Oxx On my recent visit to Red Oxx, I picked up the Red Oxx Safari Beanos Bag PR 5.5. I’ve needed a bag for overland vehicle travel for a while now. When room for cargo gets tight, duffels are definitely the way to go. Because they are soft sided, they give you a lot more flexibility […] I’ve been on the road for two weeks with the family on an epic driving adventure through the states of Wisconsin, Minnesota, Wyoming, South Dakota, Idaho, North Dakota, and Montana. When our path took us through Billings, I decided to stop by the Red Oxx Factory Retail Store. The store is in a warehouse/industrial district […] It’s raining (again) here in Chicago and quite frankly I’m bored. So I decided to have some fun and put the new Triple Aught Design Meridian through a little water torture test. OK, “water torture” is probably too strong a description and I’m not using a scientific method so “test” is highly inaccurate.

Post Tagged with Triple Aught Design Triple Aught Design sent over their Meridian Transport Case with some accessories and we added some more to the mix so we could truly get a feel for how adaptable this platform is compared to other travel bags on the market. At 21” W x 13” H x 8.5” D, the Meridian Transport Case […] You have to give it to Triple Aught Design. They could have stayed in their lane and kept pumping out new versions of their Litespeed and EDC backpacks and TAD fans would have continued to line up to buy them. Instead, they opted to produce… luggage. You heard that right. Behold the Triple Aught […] Bag Ass Work Bags got started supplying gear bags to tough motherf’ers working offshore drilling platforms. Post Tagged with Bad Ass Work Bags If you’re a dedicated one bag traveler or simply hate paying airline baggage fees, then you should probably check out Tom Bihn. The Seattle, WA based company makes world class backpacks, briefcases, and travel bags. One of it’s most versatile designs is the Tom Bihn Tri-Star, a mid-sized carry-on bag suitable for both business and […] Post Tagged with Tom Bihn My husband and I are going to Chitabe, Duba Plains, Little Vumbra and Savuti in early August. I know luggage is limited to 20Kg, must be soft sided, no wheels. I've seen a couple of sizes listed as a maximum. I'm looking at the Redoxx Safari-Beanos Bag PR 5.5 bag (28x28x68) vs an Eagle Creek bag (36x38x76) sold through Eyes on Africa. The EC duffle is bigger than recommended but per the agent has been approved by Wilderness as a bonus for their clients. First, what is the maximum size allowed? How strict are the size limits enforced? Any advice is appreciated. the limit is actually 10X12X24 in a soft bag wheels are diascouraged but not forbidden.

i doubt wilderness makes excpetions for clients. perhaps the agent paid for an extra seat on the plane as a bonus for you? when you arrive in maun, sefofane aviation actually has a "measuring box" to see if you meet the standard. the standard is rarely enforced but, if it is, you can be forced to pay about 130 per person at the airport. i have never seen this happen. if nikki told you it was ok, then you are probably all right or they will cover the difference. craig beal - owner - travel beyond nn x nn x nn - inches? As I understand it, if the bag's too big, it might not fit in the plane. It might be left at the airport (or airstrip/camp) till the next flight that's passing and has room. If the bag's too heavy, it can mean the plane is overweight. It's very rarely a problem as the planes are not always full, but it's not worth the risk. All you need should fit in a small bag. I met one guide who told of one client who had a small carry-on bag, and her husband had a large duffel bag.

When the husband was ticked off for bringing such a large bag, he explained that his wife's bag just had her jewellery and make-up and her clothes were taking up most of the room in 'his' bag! You don't need jewellery, and clothes will be efficiently washed every day so you need a minimum of changes. thanks peter - sorry for confusion. the dimensions i mentioned are inches. the dimensions are based on the door size for a lugage box that is fitted under the plane. that is why i think you are likely going to just have an extra seat for these big bags you mentioned.I should have included the units I listed. In inches the Red Oxx bag is 11 x 11 by 27. These dimensions are a little bigger than what you listed but a lot smaller than the bag sold by Eyes on Africa. I plan on packing light and leaving room in the bag that it can be compressed to fit in the small luggage hold. Red Oxx does sell a bag that is 10 x 10 x 24. Do you have any recommendations for a particular duffle that meets the size requirements?

Thanks again for your input. We have taken several Wilderness safaris to Botswana. We used Cabelas large duffle without wheels. The Cabelas duffle or LL Beans are strong and light. The 10 inch height is the size of the compartment that the bag has to fit into and that is the critical measurement. The other factor is the weight. I would not buy expensive luggage as it will have a hard life. I'm doing something similar in July. I got a great bag at REI - it's a duffel with zip-out backpack straps (no wheels). The whole thing is soft. I'll be able to have it on my lap if need be. I bought the ripstop nylon medium Eddie Bauer bag which is 12x24x10 for $50. Thanks for all your advice. I'm hoping to make a decison and order the a duffle for my husband and I. We'll be traveling light. For those who need the size in centimetres, this is cut and pasted from the Wilderness Safaris guidelines: The maximum dimensions of the soft bags which can be accommodated are as follows: 25cm (10 inches) wide x

30cm (12 inches) high and 62cm (24 inches) long Weight limit for ALL the things you take on board is 20Kg, which is 44 pounds. This includes that luggage, camera bag, handbag. As for where to get a bag, I use the Eddie Bauer bags, the one that size and the larger one for places where I can. They are my international travel bags as well as intra-Africa bags. On the other hand, you can find a pretty good bag at Target, Ross - even BigLots! Dave Patterson - Owner I found/bought a 12x10x24 duffle at Walmart for $15.(not my first choice for a place to shop, but when you have to buy a bunch of stuff for a safari...a necessary evil) It has side pockets and a top bungee chord thingy for a water bottle. I doubt it will be as durable as an Eddie Bauer bag, but I knew I was using it for this trip only.
