I've had this ultra lightweight wind jacket for some time, but only in the last month has the weather been cold and windy enough to use it.
The Cyclon jacket is constructed of 100% 20 denier Nylon with a DWR (durable water repellent) coating to make it wind resistant. Weighing only 4 3/4 ounces the jacket can be rolled into such a small size that I can stow in… My go-to jacket for any outdoor endeavor. Pound for pound the warmest piece of gear out there. This is my favourite jacket ever, and one I never leave behind regardless of what outdoor pursuit I might be on. Great wind resistant hoody. Inner fleece provides warmth and wicks sweat. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a great warm windbreaker for medium activity. This hoody fits nice and close to the body, the inner fleece interferes with grippier (say merino wool) layers underneath which makes putting it on/taking it off a chore. The hood has one adjustment cord, gets in the way when looking around for oncoming traffic on a bike. The sleeves have a stretchy end, but it is not as tight as to… The Trew women’s Up Jacket (W’s Up Jacket…haha) has served me well as a summer weight windshirt.
Lightweight, packable, and windproof, the Up Jacket is an excellent summit layer that is virtually unnoticeable in my pack. It's ideal for those who enjoy ultralight gear as it omits unnecessary features, saving on weight. It may not be a match for those on the market for a lightweight jacket with all the bells and whistles, but for me it has been an outdoor adventuring staple I’ve rarely left… This shell is ridiculously light and packable. If the weather is staying above 50 degrees, then this is my shell. If it gets colder than that, I'd prefer something more substantial like the Marmot Precip. This is my go-to shell for not only backpacking, but I keep it in the car everywhere I go. I'm 6 feet tall and 185 lbs. The large is a perfect fit for me. To be sure, this is the full zip version, not the pullover. The hood fits great, and the cinch in the back of the hood stays comfortably out… A good, basic wind breaker (when did these begin being called wind shirts?). Breathable, packable and roomy enough for layering.
This is one of the clothing items that make up a layered system that can handle a wide range of climates. From a winter camp in Wisconsin to windy days along the shores of Lake Michigan and bike commuting in Chicago this basic windbreaker works just fine. The price was good, quality top-notch. All it lacks is the high-priced name tag of other outdoor clothing. Well constructed, lightweight, and does keep the wind out. Not so good if it gets very wet but in light mist or rain it works fine. Well constructed, very light and easily packable. Runs true to size. I'm about 5'11" 190lbs and the large is just right. Seems very reistant for overall wear. All in all a good light jacket. The Brooks-Range Lt Breeze Jacket is a versatile, innovative, ultra-light wind jacket. Paper thin “fleece” diamonds laminated to the inside of the 20-denier nylon fabric that keep cold, wet nylon off your skin or base layer and boost airflow beneath the fabric. This jacket looks great, fits well, wears like iron, and weighs a scant 5.3 ounces in size medium.
