unaweep backpack

Seek Outside lightweight backpacks are engineered to provide exceptional load carriage and weather resistance in a refined, integrated pack bag platform. The Unaweep series of packs use our proven articulating load responsive suspension system which provides full movement at light loads and stiff vertical support for demanding heavy loads resulting in a comfort range from five to 100 pounds where the weight rides on your hips, not your shoulders. Using premium materials throughout the Unaweeps are available in a variety of integrated pack bag styles and fabrics ranging from recreational to guide grade. The Unaweep platform can not be used as a frieghter frame without a pack bag, however pack bag sizes and styles can be easily changed out and use the common suspension components, which results in a more adaptable platform and increased long term value. Alphabetical: A to Z Alphabetical: Z to A Price: Low to High Price: High to Low I've been looking for a solid load bearing frame design for a few years now, and have tried a few big names.
Had an Eberlestock War hammer (not enough frame height),a a mystery ranch snap dragon with upgraded belt and a Mystery Ranch NICE frame and bag. I loved the NICE frame but the belt wrap was built for a deep lumbar curve. My spine is straight, and years of RMA (Russian Martial Arts ((systema))my spine has been beaten straight as a board. This is wonderful for life but I had yet to find a pack that would allow load transfer without cutting off circulation to my hip extensors and glutes. I've only had my unaweep out twice but the first was a5 mile up a mountain with a test weight of 50lb (scale weighed )and the load was more than manageable. A few step traverses and many downed trees ams I never felt disconnected from the load. I'm impressed and looking forward to hiking without losing feeling in my legs! I have owned the Unaweep 4800 since July of 2014 and have used it dozens of times while hiking, backpacking and on hunting trips that have ranged from 1-4 nights. Pack weights have ranged from 10-65 pounds.
Weather conditions have ranged from 80 degree desert heat to rain and snow. Overall, it is far and away the most comfortable, capable and versatile pack I have owned. Granted, it is not perfect (see Cons below), but it is damn close. 1. The curved frame creates a feeling unlike any other "frame pack" I have ever tried. It is shaped to the natural contours of your spine and shoulders and it simply moves with you in a very comfortable and smooth manner. I have no problems shooting my bow or rifle while wearing the pack. 2. The hipbelt is comfortable, easy to adjust and handles the load of the pack admirably. 3. It is waterproof. This is such a comforting feeling when the rain and snow starts flying and you know that the inside of your pack is nice and dry. 4. It handles a HUGE variety of loads beautifully, making it the one and only pack you need. The key to the compression is the super simple "talon system" that compresses the main bag in 7 areas (3 on each side, 1 on top).
By cinching down the various straps of the talon, you can shrink this large volume pack down remarkably small. Additionally, you can distribute weight in the pack to a higher position by cinching down the lower talon straps, effectively creating a shelf in the location you want it. 5. It is SIMPLE. The main compartment is one giant bag with a roll-top and a side zipper. At first, I was concerned that I would be yearning for more organizational options (pockets, flaps, etc). ilbe backpack for saleInstead, I have found this to be the simplest pack to organize my stuff and find things quickly. r2d2 backpack buddyI use a few stuff sacks inside and keep items I need regularly in the talon. backpack 4shI often hike/hunt in conditions where I take a jacket on and off very frequently. nait backpack
I either use the top "Y" strap to secure the jacket or compress it between the talon and the main bag. It works like a charm. 6. It is lightweight. There are tons of great heavy load hauling packs out there, but there are VERY few that are this light. 7. So far the fabric has held up like a champ. No tears or obvious signs of wear and tear. 8. Bonus Point: The "gun hook rod" is a great little accessory if you hunt with a rifle with a sling. backpacking mauna loaIt transfers the weight of the gun to the pack and keeps the rifle from slipping off your shoulder.pelican s100 backpack review 1. You might start running out of space in the Unaweep 4800 for backcountry hunts or backpacking trips of more than 6-7 days depending on how much gear, food and water you need.azimut backpack
2. The X-PAC material is a little noisy when opening/closing the bag. For hunters, this is not ideal. However, while carrying the pack I have not found it to be noisy. It is only when opening the top or the zipper that the material "crinkles" a little more than I would ideally like. This is a tradeoff I can easily live with since the material is durable, light and waterproof. 3. I did not like the big zipper pulls that come standard. I replaced the metal pulls with paracord. To be clear, the actual zippers are very high quality, I just don't like big metal zipper pulls flopping around and creating noise, so I replaced them, which takes 3 minutes. 4. The 1" adjustment straps on my pack are shorter than I expected and are not "doubled over" (bartacked?) at the ends, so I occasionally pull them through the plastic buckles. 5. As a hunter, I found the black fabric on my talon to be shinier than I like. I found some lightweight camo fabric and draped it over the talon. This review of the Paradox Packs Unaweep 4800 was put together after putting 18 miles and climbing 5000 total foot gain over a 2 day backpacking trip.
My load was 31lbs initially with 3 liters of water and 2.5 days of food. Add in more water to get from point to point and the load weight increased more. This pack being lighter made that overall load always 4lbs lighter than my older pack would have been. That doesn't seem like a lot of weight until you've gone some distance, your body starts to fatigue and it's raining on you. That's when this pack started to shine for me. First I want to start out by saying that the Paradox Unaweep 4800 pack doesn't have tons of perks or flashy doodads to catch your attention. This pack tosses out many of the things we don't need and improves upon the features we are all after. Some of the features that Paradox Packs has chosen to improve upon are great usability. Simplicity, meaningful functionality and comfort. The first noticeable difference from this pack and all others is the material. It uses an Xpac material that is forever waterproof, light and tough. This means no more pack covers or wet packs that adds to heavier packs when water soaks in.
Not to mention your contents become damp from rain or even wet ground from most materials soaking up through the bottom if the pack is placed on damp ground enough times. The frame is the second noticeable unique feature. It is an external/internal hybrid. This overall cuts weight from lack of internal construction materials and brings the frame closer to your body than any pack I have ever had on that has a weight bearing frame system. The frame never touches your body and I am thrilled at the weight being closer to my center of gravity than ever before. This pack rides closer than any other pack I have carried that can handle substantial weight (Not A Daypack). Volume is such that loading items is a no brainier. Stuff lighter items in and since the compression straps as your load height rises to customize the volume depending on your load needs. You can easily custom tailor the volume width and height more easily with this pack bag design than packs that have dedicated pockets and compartments.
This pack is built with one main priority. It's made to haul your load as close to your body and hold your load in a stable position. And it does just that with such comfort and stability it's shocking. The riding comfort is due to the floating full wrap belt and floating shoulder harness and compressing the load against 2 main frame tubes. You can really lock in the load in between the frame. It keeps it from shifting and sagging. The floating belt and harness means your body can move more naturally and has more movement range than traditional internal frames or rigid external frames. My previous packs I could not bend down to pick up a dropped trekking pole or something similar with pack on without great effort or different unnatural body movement. This pack has 90% the same articulation as a standard non waste belt day pack! I could go over or under fallen trees with way more maneuverability than I have ever had with a pack that could haul more than I could carry. Again secret to the comfort is the external/internal frame hybrid.
