The armor slots outlined in light grey are the actual armor slots, while the eye icon denotes cosmetic slots. The player can equip any equippable armor in either the actual or cosmetic slots. The cosmetic slot item will always overtake the look of the actual armor slot, but none of the actual stats or bonuses apply. If one leaves the cosmetic slot empty, the appearance of the actual armor slot will be shown on the character. The player can equip up to four Techs, but only one, highlighted in blue, will be active at all times. Techs can be equipped using the ship's Tech Station. There are also two pet slots which are not implemented yet. The stats listing to the right of the armor window shows the player's attack multiplier, maximum health, maximum energy, and defense. There are three Inventory tabs with a total of 120 inventory slots. Picked up items and objects will automatically sort into their appropriate tab, but players can place things in any of the tabs without restriction.

(Doctor Who doesn't count.) It is possible to skin the EPP with another back piece, but so far all I've found is a tiger tail. Is it possible to hide the EPP and armor helmet altogether? There is no way do hide armor in vanilla Starbound. However, there are several mods available either from the Starbound website or the Steam Workshop that add invisible cosmetic armor, such as this one.

They can be equipped in the cosmetic slot next to the armor slot in the inventory window, allowing for different styles without requiring currently equipped armor to be removed.
