With zero positives last week our 2016 gravid trap season has come to a close. We end the year with 2077 samples submitted for testing and 29 WNV positives. The best number by far however is the zero human WNV cases that we currently have. All in all it was a relatively slow year concerning WNV however floodwater species kept us ver...y busy especially after the great flood event of August. Going forward we will continue to use our CDC traps and landing rates if needed and respond accordingly if weather permits. The best time of the year is here, Thanksgiving and Christmas are right around the corner. As we enjoy the fall season let us remember that mosquitoes are still active and the possibility of contracting a mosquito-borne disease although much slimmer during winter months is still there. From everyone at WBR Mosquito Control we wish you a happy fall season and remember to be a Skeeter Beater! West Baton Rouge Mosquito ControlMosquito update for this week: apparently this year's West Nile season does not want to go quietly into retreat.
We submitted 53 mosquito samples for testing last week and 2 samples have tested positive for West Nile Virus. Our spray trucks will be out spraying the affected areas of WBR Parish multiple times this week. Although it is late in the season temperatures are staying warm and we are still seeing virus activity in our mosquito population. We urge all of our citizens to remain vigilant against being bitten by mosquitoes and to be diligent in emptying all containers and removing any areas of standing water on their property. msi backpack gt72Stay safe everyone and remember to be a Skeeter Beater! sloth backpack hot topicWest Baton Rouge Mosquito AbatementWest Baton Rouge Mosquito ControlMosquito update for this week: we submitted 67 mosquito samples for testing last week and one sample did test positive for West Nile Virus. backpack samsonite abc 14

West Baton Rouge Mosquito ControlMosquito update for the week: We submitted 52 samples for testing last week and 1 sample tested positive for West Nile Virus. Parish wide spray operations which we have been running since the great flood event of August 11th were suspended this week due to very low numbers in most of our CDC traps. Our spray trucks did spray the area of WBR parish with a positive sample for three nights this week as well as one area in the parish that still had a high number of floodwater mosquitoes showing up in a CDC trap. We will be reevaluating floodwater populations next week to determine if parish wide spraying should resume as well as posting results from this week's sample submissions.
