The Stihl BR600 Magnum backpack blower is a professional-grade piece of equipment that relies on a primer bulb to deliver the appropriate mixture of fuel and 2-cycle oil to the engine to assist with starting the machine. Stihl recommends pushing the primer bulb a minimum of five times before starting the blower, even when the bulb is full of fuel. When you notice that the primer bulb isn't drawing fuel from the tank and injecting it into the carburetor, it's time to replace the primer. Disconnect the spark plug wire from the spark plug and ensure it can't come in contact with the spark plug. Removal of the spark plug wire removes any possibility that power can be supplied to the engine of the blower during the repair. Remove the screws that hold the air filter cover in place. Remove the air filter cover and air filter. Remove the air filter housing from the side of the machine. Removal of these components allows you access to the primer bulb, fuel line and carburetor.

Push the primer bulb backward out of the housing and discard it. Pop the new primer bulb into the empty hole in the primer bulb assembly. backpack tottoConnect the replacement fuel line that leads from the rear of the primer bulb assembly to the port on the carburetor. glamour guts backpackAttach the other fuel line to the back of the primer bulb assembly and to the fuel tank at the same point that you removed the old one. Replacement of the fuel lines at the same time you replace the primer bulb ensures that both parts are supple and flexible rather than old and brittle. Screw the primer bulb assembly back into place on the blower, taking care not to dislodge the fuel lines that you've attached to the primer bulb, carburetor and fuel tank. Reattach the air filter housing to the backpack unit. Replace the air filter and air filter cover and screw them into place.

Push the primer bulb several times to make sure it now delivers fuel to the engine.
