We feel that another way to support our school at your own convenience is to aid in the Box Tops for Education campaign. This is an opportunity to take advantage of commercial items already purchased and in your homes. Please take the time to consider what items have Box Tops available. Our goal is to bring in 5,000 Box Tops; that net gains $500.00 for the school. We can submit in October and want the public to be aware of the fact that we want to take advantage of as many as possible. This could really make an impact at no cost except for the time to cut, collect, and submit. We are all already purchasing these items with Box Tops daily. I have experience with this concept & found it to be inspiring and valuable. I am not sure if its intended purpose is warranted at Central A&M Middle School but I would like to acknowledge its potential. “Blessings-in-a-Backpack” provides elementary schoolchildren who are on the federal Free and Reduced Price Meal Program with a backpack of food to take home for 38 weekends during the school year. Backpack food includes easy-to-prepare, ready-to-eat foods, like granola bars, juice boxes, mac and cheese, and oatmeal.

This concept would need funding; it would need organization. Please contact me if interested, feel there is a need among our student population, and are available. “Homework Hangout:” “Homework Hangout” is an after-school program designed to support students academically. It is an opportunity for internet access or Microsoft Office to complete assignments, a quiet environment of uninterrupted time, and individualized attention for re-teaching, clarification of expectations, and positive encouragement. Caring adult volunteers could maximize this program’s effectiveness. “Raider Nation:” The Central A&M High School started a student “Bleacher Creature / Fan Club” to instill some ownership among the student population with a separate entity to identify with. The “Black Plague” was born & T-shirts were sold and distributed to the current student body and faculty. This concept in reserved for the staff and students exclusively. The price of each T-shirt is $13.00 & all proceeds go to Central A&M Promoters (CAMP) which is a school partner organization that supports the school in many ways.

We believe this tool will add to the parent/teacher partnership in ensuring our students’ success here at Central A&M Middle School to prepare lifelong learners that are college & career ready to be tomorrow’s contributors of society.
